Gorenje ceramic tiles, group B II b, are used for indoor tiling of floors and walls, where there is no danger of freezing.

Kitchen and bathroom programme includes tiles from group B III and B II b, in combination for walls and floor. Tiles from B II b group are separately presented in floor tiles programme.

2. Dry-pressed glazed tiles SIST EN 14411:2007 - Annex L - Group B III - wall tiles (monoporosa)

Charasteristic Gorenje Keramika Standard Requirements Method of testing
Group B III tiles are intended for indoor tiling of walls in the rooms that are not subject to freezing conditions.

Advice on laying

Gorenje single-fired tiles can be installed by using either traditional cement mortar or modern tile adhesives with plastic separators for grout joints. It is advisable to immerse the tiles in water before laying to remove any dust from the surface that could diminish the adhesive performance.
Group B III tiles must be immersed in water prior to laying due to their absorption characteristics. Please follow the instructions of the manufacturers of adhesives and grouts.

Abrasion Resistance - PEI: the standard classifies floor ceramic tiles into six classes

PEI class Possible application
Class 0 Glazed tiles of this class are not recommended for the use on floors.
Class I Suitable for areas that are walked on essentially with soft footwear or barefoot without any scratching dirt (e.g. residential bathrooms and bedrooms without direct access from the outside).
Class II Suitable for areas where mostly soft or normal footwear is worn, and are only occasionally subject to minor amounts of scratching dirt (e.g. general residential areas except kitchens, entrance halls or other rooms with heavy traffic). This does not apply to rustic footwear, e.g. hobnailed boots.
Class III Suitable for areas where normal footwear is worn, and are more often subject to minor amounts of scratching dirt (for example kitchens, halls, corridors, balconies, loggias and terraces). This does not apply to rustic footwear, e.g. hobnailed boots.
Class IV Suitable for areas subject to regular traffic and scratching dirt. The conditions are more severe than for Class 3 (e.g. entrances, commercial kitchens, hotels, showrooms and shops).
Class V Suitable for areas that are subject to intensive public traffic and scratching dirt, i.e. for the most severe conditions where ceramic tiles may still be installed (e.g. public areas such as shopping centres, airports, hotel lobbies, public walkways and industrial applications).
This classification is given as guideline only and does not provide accurate product specifications.

Friction coeficient

Friction coeficien (μ) Risk of slipping
μ ≤ 0,19 danger of slipping
0,20 ≤ μ ≤ 0,39 excessive slipping
0,40 ≤ μ ≤ 0,74 satisfactory friction
0,75 ≤ μ excellent friction
Test method:
Standard ISO/DIS 10545-17 method A
μS - Dry friction coefficient
μM - Wet friction coefficient
Example: μ dry = 0,63 / μ wet = 0,36

Defining the coefficient of friction

The test is required for floor tiles only. The coefficient of friction depends on the tile surface, area conditions (dry, wet), and the type of the footwear. The size and purpose of the area should also be taken into consideration when defining the requirements. The coefficient of friction of the tiles used for laying greater surfaces, industrial and commercial areas and entrances (esp. outdoor areas) should be greater than that of tiles used in residential areas. The tests are made before installation of the tiles. The coefficient of friction of the floor surface as well as of the tiles can change due to improper care (e.g. application of unsuitable cleaning agents). Results of the friction tests for individual types of tiles as well as a professional opinion on suitability of tiles for certain purposes are available to customers on request.
